Corinne McKay

Corinne McKay is an American Translators Association-certified French to English translator based in Colorado. Her translation work focuses on international development, law and corporate communications; some of her favorite recent projects include funding applications for public health clinics in Rwanda, a sustainable development charter for an energy company and the book Dictionary of North American Indians and Other Indigenous Peoples by Gilbert Legay, which Corinne and Eve worked on together for its publication by Barron’s Educational Series.

One of Corinne’s translation-related interests is working with beginning and aspiring translators; she is the author of How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator which was published by Lulu Press in 2006 and has since sold nearly 4,000 copies. She has been selected as a presenter for the annual conference of the American Translators Association since 2004, served as the Administrator of the ATA’s French Language Division from 2006-2008 and is the current (2008-2012) President of the Colorado Translators Association. She also teaches beginning French to English translators in the University of Chicago’s online translation certificate program.

Coloradoans like to enjoy a healthy mix of work and play, and when Corinne is not at the computer, she enjoys skiing, biking, trail running and hiking in the Rockies with her husband and daughter and doing yoga and gardening at home. Before becoming a translator, Corinne earned a B.A. in French and English from SUNY Geneseo and the University of Grenoble, France, and an M.A. in French Literature from Boston College.
