About this month’s guest: Jost Zetzsche has been active in the translation industry for over 15 years, as an English to German translator, localization consultant and translation technology expert. Jost’s monthly technology newsletter The Tool Box has become a go-to reference for translators around the world, and he is a popular presenter at translation conferences in the U.S. and abroad. His book A Translator’s Tool Box: a computer primer for translators is now in its ninth edition.
Glad to hear you’re putting Jost on the hot seat! I’m wondering if he sees any movement on the part of software publishers (and pressure from LSPs) to better support (or even begin to support) the editing process. On a recent large project, for example, we had folks who didn’t update their TM often enough. We had to do individual phrase concordance searches and cut and paste-a painstaking process that a tool should be able to do easily.
Thanks Caitilin! We’ll send your question to Jost!
